Exquisite Demitasse Cup and SaucerFine bone china, very lightweight. Thin and delicate. Translucent near light.
Cup is richly ornate with an Art Deco floral design handpainted with burgundy and pale yellow petals and extensive gold details.Three ounce cup with the most petite handle I have even seen.White and moss green cup with scalloped edge and four tiny feetPale moss lustre saucer with art deco swirls and abstract scalloped edgeBoth pieces marked \"Germany\' with a small trademark, cup is marked \"21\", suacer is marked \"48\". In my experience these numbers usually refer to a mold number, not a datePrevious owner said her mother brought the set to the United States from Germany in the 1920\'s and dates the set 1900-1915.
The set is beautiful with some signs of age. The is paint wear on the cup as seen in the photos, particularly on the upper yellow petal and the lower right gold trim. The remaining gold on the cup is bright and shiny. The gold ring on the saucer has nearly worn away. With the cup on the saucer the wear is not noticeable. However, with no chips, cracks, peeling, flaking or discoloration on either piece, the set is looking quite fine for 100 years old.
