Up for sale is aU.S. Navy training device for the M1911A1 pistol. The device consists of a transparent, plastic cut-away of a Model 1911A1 pistol in an aluminum case. Movement of four external levers demonstrates the various functions of the 1911A1 pistol. The plastic components are colored and permanently mounted on a black plastic base. A metal tag that describes the device is screwed to the base. This is a unique accessory of the advanced Model 1911/Model 1911A1 pistol collectors.

It is in GoodConditiongiven its age. There is one small screw missing at the tip of the barrel. This screw was one of two that hold a piece of decorative black plastic in place. The case exterior has numerous minor scratches and shows handling wear including some rust marks from another item that was placed on top of ie. The device appears to be complete and functional with light to moderate wear. Everything appears to be there with nothing broken, but I\'ve taken high resolution fotos so that you can see for yourself. There are even 2 plastic bullets which I inserted into the model to see if they fit. I did not otherwise attempt to operate this item out of concern I would force and break something. Note: The foam protectors on the inside top and bottom of the case are dry and degrading. Many of the speck marks on theTransparencyunit are actually this degraded foam, not damage to the unit. You can clearly see the degradation of the foam on the picture of the unit taken from behind where chunks of it came off.

If you can\'t see the information on the aluminum tag clearly, here it is restated: I\'m pretty sure I got the numbers right, but the 5\'s sure do look like S\'s to me!!!

The previous owner is a retired Master GunnerySergeantin the USMC who collected tools of his trade over the years.

I have only found one other item similar to this with broken parts which sold in 2010 for $800.00 plus sellers fees, buyers premium, and shipping which would likely have put the final price to the buyer at +- $1000 plus shipping. At that time, the price of a Good quality 1911 pistol of that era would sell in the same price range. I have therefore priced this item, which is in far betterconditionas the other Animated Transparency, at approximately the same price range as good quality 1911 pistol of that era selling today
