During the late 1940s and early 1950s, there were twin efforts by hard core collectors of the old dime novel and story papers to reprint some of the rarest dime novels in the world to make the material available to fellow collectors and also to offer a low cost opportunity for people not in the hobby to sample the texts and see what dime novels were all about.

Charlie Bragan began the effort and managed to produce the most reprints. Ralph Cummings, editor/publisher of the Dime Novel Roundup, the premier journal of the hobby, quickly followed with his own series. Both these efforts were abandoned by the middle 1950s after some teenagers broke into Bragan’s storage area and extensively vandalized the contents.

These reprints are all shot directly from the originals, printed on groundwood pulp and are exact facsimiles of the original dime novels. Some book dealers have tried to pass there reprints off as originals to people who are unfamiliar with the field. Most of these reprints have a line of type on the back covers or a stamp saying the reprint was produced as either part of the Dime Novel Club or the Cummings Happy Hours Brotherhood Reprint series. Today, many decades later, even the reprints are scarce and difficult to locate in good condition.

I have a number of these reprint editions in brand new Fine/Near Mint condition which I am offering for sale here thru . This is your chance to read and enjoy some of the rarest and some of the most entertaining material ever produced in the dime novel field, a genre that was extremely popular during the latter part of the 19th century, and is now gone forever.
