$395.00

A charming documented 1860’s cotton dress and velvet chenille headdress. The dress and headdress were worn by Maria Catherine Blauvelt Ramsey. She was born in 1823 and died in 1902. The ensemble comes from a Ramsey, N. J. estate. The fabric has a brown and green stripe and floral pattern. The neckline, bust area, armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton. The bodice lining had a front hook and eye closure but they are missing and will need to be replaced. The skirt is unlined except for a wide band of cotton and the edge of the hemline. The headdress is made of brown and black chenille velvet that is placed over a wire base. The dress and headdress are in very good condition. The dress has some light underarm discoloration mostly to the inside lining and a 5 inch period mend on the edge of the back skirt. The front waist has been enlarged probably for maternity purposes.
