Offeredis this lovely and unusual Dresden Lace figurine depicting a Spanish flamencostyle dancer with a tambourine. This piece stands about 10.5 inches high (26cm).
Theblue mark on the bottom reads “Dresden” with a crown. This mark was used bySandizell Hofner & Company of Bavaria, which began production in 1951 andfollowed the Dresden style. Each piece required two weeks to complete,according to Jim and Susan Harran’s book “Dresden Porcelain Studios.”
Thisfigure shows a dark-haired woman performing in a blue-and-white ruffled skirtthat is open in the front to reveal shapely legs in mid-step. She wears a paleblue bodice with white lace around the low-cut neckline.
Ayellow porcelain rose decorates the waist.
Thispiece is in very good condition. There appears to be a small amount of lacedamage in the V-neck of her bodice (see last photo). A bit of lace has been lost above her leftshoulder.
