E R Roach 1940-50 Cast Aluminum Vintage Antique Race Car Collection (24) RacecarsElmer Ray Roach was my grandfather. He owned a toy company in the late 40\'s and early 50\'s. The biggest seller was the streamlined race car. These race cars were made in four colors. Green, Yellow, Blue, and Red and are highly collectable. The green was the rarest, than yellow, blue, and red was the most popular and the easiest to find. They were virtually indestructible if they were all aluminum. Some had wooden or rubber wheels and the spare wheel mounted on the back of the cars was often lost.
There were at least three molds made with version 3 being the most prevalent. Version 2 had a raised number on the car that was part of the mold. Most version 3 cars were marked but some, especially the earlier ones were not and not all of these are. These cars are approximately 10.5\" long so they are good sized and heavy. These cars were made by Roach Industries out of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Most are marked ER Roach, Mt. Vernon, OH and have the mold number on them.There are 25 cars in this collection. Most are in very good shape but with the obvious paint missing. Some have been repainted, repaired, or redone (as the blue, version 2 one with different large rolling wheels;) Please see the pictures as they are part of the description. There are two other version 2\'s that need wheels. There is one gray one that I think was a prototype as it and it has no rear wheel mount. One red one has no rear wheel mount also. There are 3 that are unmarked. Not all parts are original. 4 are missing wheels. One red one has a hole drilled through the front, probably to tie a string for pulling. There are 2 loose axles that will be included.

I paid much more for many of these cars, up to $200/car.I have several informative related papers that I will include a copy of with this collection. They are: a copy of the patent, a copy of a stock certificate, a copy of a picture or rendering of the factory, and a copy of an article that was published in \'The Toy Collector\' magazine. I will not post pictures of these items for obvious reasons.I cannot begin to tell you the time, effort, and money that went into accumulating this collection that circumstances lead me to part with at this time. Just the time alone that you will save to acquire this many cars, not to mention the paperwork I am including, is a huge benefit to buying this collection.This collection is being sold as is. I collected them over many years and what you see in the pictures is what you will receive.
