This early 1900s watch fob or key tag is a medical emergency identification item issued to Masons by the The Masonic Protective Association. One side has the words THE MASONIC PROTECTIVE ASSOC\'N. WORCESTER, MASS. PAYS SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT INDEMNITY TO MASONS ONLY, with the mark of the manufacturer (Whitehead & Hoag; Newark, NJ) at the bottom. The reverse side has a stamped personal identification number (48805) included in the words TELEGRAPH THIS NUMBER TO THE M.P.A. IT WILL IDENTIFY ME IF INJURED OR UNCONSCIOUS. There is no mark for composition, but this silver-toned non-magnetic token appears to have a nickel composition. It measuresapproximately 27 x 34 mm (1-1/16 x 1-3/8\").

This item is in very good condition, with relatively light wear, limited signs of handling, toning, and soiling, and it remains a fairly bright silver color.
