This is a very beautiful early 19th century fine silk shawl, with a silk fringe and aneoclassical woven brocade or damasked design at the ends with a delicate and restrained Greek key pattern and dainty floral sprigs.
It dates to about 1810-15, it is English, a Regency shawl of high fashion that ould have been worn over an empire line gown.

The condition is mostly good for its age, there is some fading and pale foxing to the yellow silk on the front of the shawl, this is a little uneven with the ends showing little paler in places, the silk is a brighter yellow on the reverse. There are a few little marks, nothing serious with some slight wear to the edges with some loose threads. All is commensurate with age, overall the shawl is bright and strong, a very handsome piece for a collection or display.

It measures about 94.5\" by 24.5\", or 240 cms by 62 cms, with 4\"/10 cms thank you for looking.
