EARLY ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART LARGE WOOD ROBINS EGG BLUE SPLINT BASKET LAUNDRY
Up for sale is this wonderful old robin\'s egg blue splint basket. It\'s big, it\'s old and it has a great look to it. What a great color!! It\'s a pine basket or cradle that\'s worn and aged in all the right ways. The basket is hand painted and the paint appears to be original. We don\'t know the exact age or origin of this item but we think this is possibly from the NE United States. The basket has high sides that raise up and are canted out slightly.
This great looking basket has some issues, in that the nails are rusty (we love it) some of the splints are cracked or broken, and one of the corners is broken. One of the other corners has some damage to it as you can see in the pictures. There\'s a broken splint in the bottom also. There\'s also a little damage on the side also. The basket has a great look to it and we think the pictures tell a pretty good story about the basket\'s condition.
The basket is a wonderful soft robin\'s egg blue. It has some variations in color, patina, drips and fading as you can see in the pictures. The paint has a lotof paint loss, chipping, crackling, chips, nicks, scrapes and edge wear. Wow! We\'ve tried to show all of this in the pictures
The basket measures 31\" L (33\" L with the handle) x 20.5\" W x 10.5\" H (13\" H with the handles) and weighs about 6 lbs.
It\'s in overall nice condition for its age. The basket would look amazing in any home.
