This striking Royal Doulton figurine is the wonderfully evocative Falstaff, a study in red and brown. His confident look belies the effects of a lifetime of self-indulgence: he is a happy man, untroubled bythe many contradictions in his life and his vivid personality.

The Falstaff design was produced between 1953 and 1992, and this figurine is from the early end of that range.On the reverse is the number HN 2054, the green underglaze Doulton mark that was in use between 1945 and 1959, and a 1949 copyright date.
The artist\'s initials CB also appear.
The figurine is approximately 7 1/2 inches tall and in excellent condition – no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs, just the expected light crazing, and that is barely noticeable.
