This is an early S.J. Addis No. 10 Straight Gouge Wood Carving Chisel, 1/4 Inch Wide.

This is an early S.J. Addis No. 10 Straight Gouge Wood Carving Chisel, 1/4 inch wide and 8 inches long.

The hardwoodhandle is in very good condition with expected signs of age and use. Thesteel blade has a sharp edge ready to put to work. It has the \"S J Addis\" name and address, \"200 Pavel Lane, Southward, London,\" stamped on it. (Letters at the beginning and end are very light so I guessed at the \"S\" (vs. \"B\") on the Addis name and the \"d\" at the end of Southward.) It came in a large group ofsuper Addis, Marples, Taylor, Maiers, Herring Bros., Buck Bros. and other top English and American maker wood chisels I acquired from a working wood shop that I am listing in the coming months. A very usable Wood Chisel made from fine steel by a superb British chisel maker.

My chisels are always in clean, sharp, ready-to-use condition without damaged wood handles that you\'d have to repair or cutting edges with problems.
