English Antique Sterling Silver Honey Bowl Bee Engraved 1891 Victorian 177g For Sale
A very good quality large Victorian
sterling silver bowl. It is hallmarked for Sheffield 1891 with the maker’s
marks being HA for Henry Atkin, a good quality well respected firm. It has an
unusual design having gadrooned sides with an embossed raised centre with
flower like decoration. Its rim has been
finely engraved with a honey bee which makes me suspect it may have been
intended to hold honey. It is in outstanding condition being free from dings
splits and repairs, the inside is faintly gilded. It is a good useful size
measuring over 5.5 inches (14.2cms) across by almost 2 inches (5cms) tall. It impressively
weighs 5.7 troy ounces (177 grams). A superbly designed eye
