ENGLISH STERLING SET SUGAR TONGS & 12 TEASPOONS IN FITTED BOX Set of twelve sterling silver teaspoons with floral and scroll work chased and engraved on the handles and a matching sugar tongs with oval grips, in a fitted fabric lined leather covered hinged box. The spoons measure 4 7/8 inches long and 1 inch across the bowl, and the tongs measure 5 inches long and 1 1/4 inches across the bow. The set weighs 6.51 troy oz. Marked on the back of the handles with the English hallmarks: the maker\'s mark \"JW\" over \"FCW\" for James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler, followed by the leopard\'s head for London, the lion for sterling and the date letter \"R\" for 1892. The tongs are marked in the same way inside the arms. The box is worn and torn at the corners, the blue material inside is loose on the right edge and the spring catch is rather difficult to depress to unlatch (from age shrinkage of the box wooden body panels). Two teaspoons have some tip wear, and one spoon bowl has a small crack, and another bowl has two tiny cut marks (see last three photos). Overall in good antique condition.
