This piece is an original work of art, of oil on on masonite board and is called \"Mushrooms\". The artist painted it in California in the late eighties. It is in exquisite condition. Extremely bright and collectible.

The artist is Maria Lak, a listed Hungarian artist from Leavenworth, Washington who painted from the early 1950s to the early 1990s. This painting was purchased at an estate sale across the street from the Lak family residence.

Lak was self taught in her native Budapest, Hungary, and began painting at an early age. She preferred to paint many layers of oil on canvas or masonite board, building up the layers to add depth and light, and then add a final layer of laquer to give an almost photographic quality.

She traditionally paints still lifes and landscapes, and her work is collected by people such as Carol Burnett, Red Skelton, and Barbara Stanwick.
