Finely bound in recent calf vellum, gilt title on spine, gilt decoration to upper cover. Decorated endpapers - with pale green line drawings after Arthur Rackham. Thick oversized quarto, TEG ( Top Edge Gilt), other edges deckled ( uncut). Sixteen (16 ) full colour chromolithograph illustrations ondecorative light yellow linen-papermounts, all under captioned tissues, andfurther black and white drawings and decorations by Arthur Rackham, this volume is profusely illustrated and decorated. The text and black and white illustrations are on English hand-made watermarked paper ( please see photo), which is textured and thick, similar to Arches or Fabriano. Impressive heavy, magical volume. Green grosgrain silk bookmark. A beautiful book, superbly illustrated and decorated, finely printed on handmade paper, in gilt vellum binding. Book condition: A superb copy, in FINE condition for the age. Small name inscription in upper left corner of first pastedown. Nothing else of note. Vellum with slight colour differentiation across the boards - this is a natural material and the colour is therefore always with slight variation, which adds to the special feel of a hand-made binding. A spectacular, bright copy free from any notable marks, which would make a wonderful, memorable and forever treasured gift.
