RARELOVELY 1845, PAISLEY SHAWL with EXCEPTIONAL PATTERNED CENTER FIELD

Thisis a beautiful very fine cashmere and silk shawl from c.1845 from France or Paisley, ScotlandIt was de-accessioned from a major collection in Britain. The fully patterned center is very rare to find, they were made in much more limited quantity than the black ones. The condition of this shawl is amazing, since it is almost 200 years old! The colors are fabulous, the design lovely typical very very early 19th century paisley. The pattern strikingly resembles the IndiaN Kashmir shawls imported into Europe in the very early 19th century. It measures 116 inches wide by 60 inches long with glorioussaturated colors. It has fringe on two sides with block colored borders. The shawl is very light and soft to the touch, made from light cashmere and silk. This shawlhas a remarkably wonderful array of jewel like colors, wovenvery beautifully. The execution of the design is quite rare and worthy of collecting. The paisley design of the pine curved, turning into lively vining and floral patterns in the center against that gorgeous cream center is dreamlike and captivating. This is such a gem!

The exquisite harmony of the design and finecolorof this shawl makes itunusually beautiful quality. The colors are red, indigo blue, gold,green, black, cream.
