A lovely example of hand crafted needle point lace, encased in a gold gilded gesso frame with a hanging loop to the back. The glass is all good and strong with no cracks or chips, framed in a simple gesso circular frame which does have a little chip to it and wear to the outside gilded surface - all commensurate with age (see photograph). This would have taken many, many hours by a skilled needlewoman to complete ~ set onto a fine lawn cotton with a central cartouche flower head surrounded by tulip heads and ferns. It has been backed onto a red baize with secure hanging loop. This was probably taken from the center of a wedding handkerchief or part of a wedding dress. Would now make the perfect Wedding gift, give to a special someone, add to an existing collection.
