From my own private collection, this is your chance to own the rare of the rareso hard to find Jumeau Triste Doll from the early era, circa 1878-1881!!!!

I am pleased to present a breathtaking example of an antique Jumeau Triste. This doll is also known at the long faced Jumeau. This Triste Bebe is 23 inches tall (size 10) and was made in France by Emile Jumeau in 1878 to 1881. The head is based on a model by Carrier-Belleuse.The Triste\'s pouty closed mouth is expertly painted with delicate outlines of the lips. The Triste has very detailed applied pierced ears but no earrings. This Triste has beautiful Jumeau blue human form paperweight eyes with tremendous depth and clarity set off with wonderful feathered eye brows and eye lashes.

The Triste Bebe was actually sold by the company of Maison Francois Simonnewhich in the middle 1800\'s made kid bodied French Fashion dolls using heads made for them by several companies including Jumeau and Gaultier. By 1880 they become a luxury Paris boutique that commissioned the finest Bebe dolls and created their elegant costumes in their own ateliers; Francois Simonne described his firm, thusly \"I have specialized in dressing dolls\". While Simonne bought this Triste Bebe from Jumeau it is the standard production Triste sold to Simonne with no Jumeau marks on the body so Simonne could add their own label. Simonne then dressed the doll and sold it as their own creation.

The antique Jumeau composition and wood Bebe body is all original in its original finish with no signs of repainting. The body is fully jointed with straight wrists. It shows normal wear expected in a Triste Jumeau Bebe doll that is 130+ years old. The body is tightly strung and holds a pose.

The Triste is wearing 2 outfits that have been professionally made for her. It is expertly made using vintage and antique fabrics and trims. The 2 outfits are appropriately styled to what a Triste would have worn in the 1880\'s. You can choose one of the dresses, the light pink one or royal blue.The Triste is wearing antique shoes and socks but those aren\'t original to her. Still gorgeous. You can choose one of the wigs that you see on this spectacular doll. The blonde curly english mohair wig with extensions which is vintage or the antique human hair wig i a rich deep shade of blond, which i suits her the best.

The head is marked with just a size number which is normal for a Triste. The body has the normal Simonne paper label,

The bisque head has been broken at forehead only and had a professional invisible porcelain repair done. (see back lit picture). A piece was broken out on the forehead and there appears to be several hairlines radiating down the face from the break. The good news is that the repair is truly invisible. Even knowing where the repair was done from looking inside the head I cannot see any damage on the face of the doll. Even viewing the face under black light I cannot see the repairs. There is an obvious filling and repaint on the forehead where the damage was done.It is mostly under the wig. The rest of the face has its original finish with no repainting of the eyes or cheeks. There are no eye chips, cheek, nose or lip rubs on the face painting.

The original Jumeau body has its original finish with no signs of repaint. There is typical wear and cracking at some of the body joints (see pictures) and some damage to the neck socket.. In general the paint wear on the joints is not excessive. The finger tips have minor wear to the varnish but the paint is intact.
