Description

A VERY RARE AND EARLY 18th Century QUEEN ANNE PERIOD LEATHER Covered \"Domed Top\" Valuables Box with its Original CAST BRASS LOCK AND PLATE AND WONDERFUL ORIGINAL BRASS TACK DECORATION. IT RETAINS ITS HAND PRINTED PAPER COVERED INTERIOR. New England, Probably Boston, MA Circa 1700-1720 in native white pine AND THE LARGEST ROSE HEADED NAILS I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A BOX LIKE THIS.

THIS IS A VERY RARE FORM FOR THE PERIOD. USUALLY THE EARLY QA EXAMPLES HAVE A MORE FLATTENED DOMED TOP AND RARELY DO WE SEE IT WITH THE ADDED BRASS TACK DECORATION.

FANTASTIC CONDITION FOR THE FORM. THE BROWN LEATHER IS ON ALL SIDES. THE LEATHER IS ABOUT 95% INTACT WHICH IS EXTREMELY RARE. THE ONLY MINOR LOSS IS TO THE REAR LEATHER HINGES, (which are still functional).

THE VERY RARE BRASS LOCK, LOCK PLATE AND HASP ARE ORIGINAL. FULLY HAND FORGED IT STILL RETAINS EVERY ONE OF ITS ORIGINAL ROSE HEADED NAILS.

THE INTERIOR PRINTED PAPER IS ABOUT 90% INTACT.
