I\'ve held on to this for years, I would visit R.A. often, starting in the early 1980\'s just up the road where he lived and worked near Gainesville, Ga. This is unsigned, as, especially earlier on, he did not sign all of his work. I remember, on later visits, picking out pieces and having to ask him to sign them. This is definitely among the earliest depictions of Blow Oskar (his neighbor, he explained to me...who would drive by and blow his car horn as he passed each day), the devil, and the monsters or dinosaurs which he produced in bulk later in his career...the later paintings were often cut - out individual images of these characters. Here, in this early work, you see all characters in one piece, as he was formulating ideas he would utilize creatively for several decades. I\'ve never seen one of these available, it belongs in a museum or in the hands of a serious collector of outsider art.
