Early 18th Century Lead Tobacco Jar Humidor bearing the Prince of Wales Crest:
$224.99

Up for sale is this rare 18th century English lead Tobacco jar with the molded crest of the Prince of Wales heraldic badge. The heraldic badge features three ostrich feathers emerging from a crown. The ribbon below the crown bears the motto \"Ich Dien\", which means \"I Serve\".This heraldic badge has nothing to do with the current Prince of Wales, but has been used by the English Royalty since the 15th or 16th Century.
This rectangular Tobacco jar has \"returning\" or beveled corners and a domed lid with a feathered finial top.The jar still shows traces of blue and a yellow-green paint - the reason for which I have no idea...
Showing spectacular patination, the Tobacco jar still has the lead \"press\" or inner weight which was used to keep the Tobacco compact and fresh.
This piece is exceedingly heavy for it\'s size of 4\" long x 3\" wide x 4-3/4\" tall.
