For your consideration is a scarce example of a very early Buco J-24 Horsehide motorcycle jacket men\'s size 42, circa the early 1950\'s. This jacket is what you could consider a transitional J-24 as it has some of the features of the earlier J-22, such as the wool lining and length of the back, yet has the two back map pockets of your typical mid to late 1950\'s J-24.
This jacket features a second version Buco label, 100% wool black and red plaid lining, and black cotton twill sleeve lining and two back map pockets ( which are herringbone twill). I have owned a number of Buco\'s but have never encountered the \"dense tooth\" Talon zipper, which I have seen only photos of these transitional jackets. The front pockets are brushed cotton with a black houndstooth print that imitates the black and red wool houndstooth lining found on other Buco\'s of this era.
The Horsehide leather is very supple and tough. I personally wore this jacket a few times however I am a 40 chest and the fit isn\'t as snug as I would like. I carefully treated the leather with Pecard\'s Antique Leather dressing- preferred by museum curators- as it had been a long time since it was last dressed. All zippers work however a few are missing original pulls. The jacket is structurally sound however there are a few places where the thread is giving way. Right sleeve has 2.5\" long split, as shown.Measurements:
