Handwritten poem entitled \"Noel\" composed of 8 couplets. Believed to be unpublished for I could not reference an example anywhere. Pre-dates commonly known poem by French writer Theophile Gautier bearing the same title of \"Noel\".Manuscript French Provencal (possibly Catalonian) poem in 8 couplets. 8 pages of text alternating between blank pages plus an additional 12 blank pages.Original sewn wall paper wrappers (soiled and frayed with vertical fold lines); 7th couplet detached but present; text shows moderate soiling; magnificent calligraphic handwriting in fabulous period ink; a true work of art within itself.Provençal /prɒvɒnˈsæl/[3] (Occitan: Provençau or Prouvençau [pʀuveⁿˈsaw]) is a variety of Occitan spoken by a minority of people in southern France, mostly in Provence. In the English-speaking world, the term \"Provençal\" has historically also been used to refer to all of Occitan, but is now mainly understood to refer to the variety spoken in Provence.[4]
