Early 19thC Staffordshire Pottery Unusual Figural Jug seated Man with Lamp:
$15.58

A terrific piece of English Staffordshire pottery. This is typical Staffordshire in many respects, the somewhat crude manufacture, clay body and both under and over glazed decoration, the latter rubbing away as usual! But in other respects this appears an unusual piece. A closed over jug- as in its has a spout only- and no real handle either, other than to pick up the seated man who sits, hat in lap holding a lantern of some description?I suppose this may have been intended as a spill vase? Still it has such a pronounced spout? Some roughness to the piece on his nose and few other high points, an in manufacture chip under the spout has been glazed right over. The black over glaze badly rubbed away- otherwise as you see in good structural shape with no major chipping and no cracks breaks or repairs!Height 20cm (8 inches) Weight 860 grams.
