Get Vendio Gallery - Now FREE!Offered here is a beautiful antique cut crystal glass serving plate or shallow bowl with an ornate heavy floral pattern Sterling Silver rimmed edge. The plate measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and stands almost 1\" deep. The cut crystal center has an ornate wheel cut floral pattern which is surrounded by a geometric pattern on the tapered edge of the plate and then all rimmed in fine heavy weight Sterling Silver. The edge of the Silver rim is marked as pictured for Watson Silver Company STERLING B553 8 1/2 followed by a number 3 further down on the rim.
I only lightly wiped over the Sterling silver rim so as not to disturb any of the patina in the intricate floral pattern. There are no dings or dents to the Silver rim and no chips, cracks or flaws to the deep cut glass dish. This piece can be used for many serving needs all year long or presented as a fine keepsake gift.
The Watson Silver Company was founded in Attleboro, MA and produced many fine silver objects from the 1880s to the 1950s. I believe this piece dates circa 1920s. Please view all of the photos and excuse any reflection and glare in the pictures. This actually looks even more elegant in person and the glass and silver craftsmanship is excellent.
