Gorgeous, big, heavy and intricate large cairo ware cairoware mixed metal tray - measures 13 5/8 x 13 5/8 x 5/8 inches and weighs a massive 3 pounds 1.6 ounces - Arabic inscriptions - Brass with copper inlay and black silver - aka niello - this tray has a bent corner - later inscription on reverse when given as a gift: Presented to Mr. Douglas Palmer, USAID Cairo from faculty and students of the Suez Canal University faculty of Medecine in recognition and appreciation of his efficiency and dedication as USAID project officer that made USAID assistance to FOMSCU, (Faculty of Medicine Suez Canal University) a great sucsess (success) ISMAILIA in May 20th 1985. Any information regarding a translation of the arabic into english would be greatly appreciated!
