Description

Russian gold-washed .875 silver and polychrome cloisonne enamel snuff box of rectangular form with hinged lid.

SIZE: Approximately 2 1/4\" W x 1 3/8\" D x 3/4\" H.

MARKS: As shown in photo on base ~ Elongated oval second Kokoshnik mark (in use 1908-1926) with Δ Delta (Moscow) and silver purity 84 zolotniks (=.875), Maker\'s mark: Cyrillic МЗ (likely, MZ for Mikhail Zorin). There is also a round Kokoshnik head mark on the top of the box very close to the center; you will likely need magnification to see it.

CONDITION:Older item. Looks extremely clean to the naked eye, but with a 25x loupe, I was able to find a few scattered losses to the enamel. Please see enlarged photos below. There is no enamel in the flower on the left side of the top or in the small dots in the blue surrounded; since there is none, rather than losses, I believe this is \"as made\". The box had a lot tarnish/discoloration on base; if the base looks very shiny in the photos that is because I had to polish it to confirm with certainty whether or not there where additional identifying marks. Otherwise, the box is \"as found\' and has not been cleaned.
