Item up for offer is a very nice early reproduction of The Return originally done by Cornelius & Baker. The only way we figured this out to be a reproduction was because the measurements were a tad off from the original statue. The original was made in a pair, The Departure and The Return. The uniform was based off of a Civil War era Zouav soldier, though from looking at the uniform we are unsure of how accurate that is. The originals had the makers mark on the foot near the base. The originals are exceedingly rare, and the copies that were made are also very rare. There is a crack on the arm that is covering his eyes on the back, but that could have been done during manufacture, it does not go all the way through. Chip in the left hand side epaulette. Chips in wood base as pictured. Overall cleaning needed. Top of walking stick is broken off and missing. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Measures a tad over 13\" tall.
