This is an early Native American Indian Dance/Hunting/Battle Shield. It was likely used for many purposes throughout its long life. Pre 1900\'s. It has been part of a large private collection for more than 35 years and I am honored to pass it on to its new home. It measures approx. 21\" across and has a large Buffalo/Bull effigy painted on the front. The paint is badly faded and barely visible but enough is there for the image to be seen. The original leather strap is still attached although heavily worn along with the rest of the Shield. Overall the piece is well made and well used. This piece has stood the test of time and it would likely still do its job today although I do not recommend. This beauty has earned its right to be displayed with pride.
