“Sanctus Early leaded stained glass window panel with a painting of Saint Andrew holding his cross. Continental 16th century (Dutch or German). Framed in wood. Fine detail and strong image painted on both sides of the glass to create dimensionality.

Saint Andrew is shown standing by a wall, with a shield with a red heraldic lion leaning against it, and a body of water with a ship in the background Titled in Latin on the bottom “Santus Andreas” on a scroll. The figural panels surrounded by intricate paintings of stylized foliage and branches. Painted in the style of the Old Masters.

AGE: Late 16th Century - Circa 1590’s

SIZE: Panel - 15.25” x 21.25” (39 cm x 54 cm) / Frame - 19” x 25” (48 cm x 64 cm)

CONDITION: No major losses or wear to the painted images. One side surround panel has a stable crack. Panel is stable and the leading tight. Overall aging. Some leading possibly replaced at some time. Reverse with two hooks soldered onto the leading for hanging. Frame with wear and discoloration. Two holes drilled though the top sides of the frame for hanging. piece will be a quality addition to any collection of European Art and will display beautifully in any Continental, Religious, Renaissance, or Arts and Crafts decor.
