Here is a Knoll chair with good original fabric, from the John Deere Administration center.
The Saarinen team designed and furnished the masterpiece Deere Office complex.
The model number is 46S, called a secretarial chair.
These would also look good with the Knoll Partners desk, as the legs match the partners desk base.
The backrest adjustment bar appears to be a solid brass casting.
I use 1 of these chairs at my upholstery sewing machine.This is a heavy duty, Mad Man era office or factory type chair.
A genuine piece from the great industrial American era, pre off shoring everything made in the USA.
The chairs came from a professional draftsman and designer for the John Deere Company.
I believe John Deere owned the chairs, and sold them at a remodel.The base material is .08 thick brass, with a steel core, and has a screw for height adjustment.
The seat height adjustment screw, is hidden under the brass outer trim tube.
To change the height, you manually turn the outer trim tube, which is easy when laid over.
The seat is padded with foam and covered in brown nubby cloth material.
The backrest is the same cloth, and padded with foam.
The makers label is present on the seat underside on two of them.
There is a bunch of brass in these chairs and an interesting bronze finish outside.
These must have cost a bunch when new, and are sophisticated office chairs.Get the real deal and never look back.
This is not the cheap junk from office max, and is a Cadillac industrial chair.Dimensions in inches:
Seat base platform is 20 wide x 17 deep, the backrest is 15.5 wide x 11.5 tall.
Legs are 18 wide at the feet, and 25 across the X.
The seat height adjusts 3 inches from 18 to 21 (top of foam pad).
The overall height is 30.5-35 inches, as the backrest moves 2.5 inches up and down.
Weighs 35 pounds each.
Will fit in a 20 x 20 x 20 Tall box, for lower shipping costs, if taken apart.Condition:
It has some scuffs on the base.
The upholstery is presentable as is, and the chair rolls nice and is solid
Its in as found condition, and can be used as is.
Its not bent or flawed, and the seat pad foam has life left in it.
