On offer here is a fine replica of a pyramidion which is the decorative capstone of a monumental pyramid.

The images shown feature the sun god Ra in falcon form with prominent sun disc resting on his head. Directly above the large disc is the horizon glyph which is stylized representation of two mountains with a small sun disc rising above the valley between the peaks.

The other design features an individual in the pose of adoration to gain the favour of the sun god and to ensure a continuation of life in the hereafter. The sun being the ultimate symbol of renewal and rebirth in the Egyptian mind was a popular choice for inclusion in tomb imagery and especially pyramidions.

The piece is made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone and has an aged green patina.
