Following the 1923 discovery of King Tut\'s Tomb, Egyptian culture, art and mystique became the basis of the Egyptian Revival Movement. These previously unseen mages influenced designers in all diciplines but became particulary prominent in the decorative arts. These bookends epitomise that movement with heiroglyphic symbols of life and ascension on the false doors and the beautifully detailed Wings of Horus signifing divinity above the entrance. The rear panels are removable perhaps to secure your own objects for eternity.Condition is very good, I would scale at 7 of 10Unmarked, this set would have had a paper label which unfortunately did not survive. The typical rubber feet and felt are also missing from the bottoms. Some scratches to the back panels as shown and wear or fading to the top and top edge finish.Otherwise please refer to photos to determine condition.
