This stunning ancient replica features the unmistakable features of the great Amenhotep the third. Amenhotep was a Pharaoh who sat on the throne during the very pinnacle of ancient Egyptian wealth and influence. The father of Akhenaten and the Grandfather of Tutankhamun he was one of the greatest builders and diplomats that Ancient Egypt ever knew.

Made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone this sculpture can be removed from the polished felt based stand with ease.

The coloration is an ochre / red patina that looks similar to the original fragment.

Background information

The youthful features of the Pharaoh would suggest the sculpture was made early in his reign but it was actually made during the latter years. Amenhotep reigned long enough to attend a rejuvenation festival known as the heb-sed. This was an invigorating ritual that was a major state occasion with much feasting and ceremony.

The Pharaoh\'s spirit was revivified and the artwork that was created after this event would be characterized by this influence.

One of the most impressive features of this sculpture is the symmetry of the Khepresh crown, also known as the blue or war crown.
