Electric Shock Machine Coin Op Penny Arcade Trade Stimulator Carnival Shocker :
Please view all of the photos of this machine. It’s SHOCKING!
Offering for sale this vintage ELECTRICITY IS LIFE SHOCK MACHINE arcade game trade stimulator made by the Mills Novelty Company, Chicago Illinois. Based on company literature and other research I would date this machine circa 1925-1935.
The machine is a fine example of an unmolested original shocker. What is so great about this particular specimen is that most of the ORIGINAL stenciling to the front of the cabinet is all INTACT! Compare this machine to the Mills shocker that recently sold here on (item 110999221606). Note how that machine is missing all of the stenciling. That is because this stenciling is very fine and was typically worn off during use or worn so much that operators would just re-paint the machine during its service.
Mills Novelty shockers were very popular during this period, as electricity was not as common (many homes in rural areas did not yet have electricity) – and there was belief that electricity even had therapeutic effects (hence the “Electricity is Life” marketing).
The machine is 100% complete and untested. There is an old (non-working) high power lantern battery still in place.
I also have a copy of a page out of the Mills “Money Makers” catalog describing and picturing a shocker machine. The way Mills Novelty advertised and marketed these machines to operators was just great! The copy will be included in the sale.
The key (a newer replacement) that operates the old original lock is also included.
The machine measurements are 11 X 9 X 7 inches.
I will box and ship this via Priority Mail shipping to avoid risk of damage. US Buyers to pay $55. – international buyers please inquire.
If you are in the greater Los Angeles area you are welcome to come inspect the machine prior to offerding. If you are the high buyer and would prefer to pick up the machine you can (no charge of course).
Please ask any and all questions prior to placing a offer – the machine is sold as-is. Review my recent response for similar vintage coin op machines – offer with confidence.
