A MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE!This is truly one of the finest enamel lockets we have seen. We purchased the locket from a private estate in Estonia. The locket depicts two elephants! The work is clearly that of a master jeweler and artisan. It is marked with the Russian silver mark of 84 on the bale. The elephants date to c1900 - this is NOT a recent copy!!!

There may have been some restoration of the enamel on the border. The central elephant portion has not been touched. The front has stunning pale green guilloche enamel. The reverse has a gorgeous pale blue guilloche enamel!

A masterpiece of enamel work done during the Belle Epoque, Edwardian period of Czar Nicholas!The jewel is in excellent condition. The locket is 53mm (2 inches) tall and 50mm wide. It is hallmarked with 84 for Russian silver and a maker\'s mark which I cannot decipher. The piece weighs 30 grams.This is a stunning jewel with great drama and style worthy of the finest collection. It is so immensely wearable either during the day or at the most glamorous affair.
