\"Elvis World #3\" (by Memphian Bill E. Burk & not to be confused with Phil Gelormine\'s far-superior & much larger fanzine of same title). Burk used to work for the Memphis newspapers (he was famously on the train from Jersey when Elvis came home to Memphis upon his Army discharge) + wrote a couple of books on Elvis & was a \"friend\" according to him so he started a Memphis-based fanzine to report on all the goings-on at Graceland, Memphis, tribute week, etc. In this issue: Birthday plans for `88, value of autographs, article on Pat Geiger (she started the Elvis postage stamp movement) & eerily enough: that nut in Macleod, MS. who was recently shot to death on his front porch, has an article on his \"museum\". Condition: VG++ (clean except for address-label\'s sticker reside on back, the Label has fallen off). Postage: add $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scan #1 = cover. Other scans (NOT, I say NOT included with this issue but available on my Store site & I refuse to waste 11 scans because some punter is \"confused\" or from Hawaii!!):
\"Worldwide Elvis News #270-271\" (double-issue & so twice as thick: 10/23/76): softbound fan magazine (fanzine). Super Elvis fan from UK (Rex Martin, whom I met once at Lickty-Poo\'s convention in NYC & we got along like a house-on-fire, whatever that means, & gabbed for about 6 hours straight), actually did a WEEKLY Elvis newsletter back in the 1970\'s (I know he did at least 287 issues because I\'ll be listing it on my Elvis Presley Store site shortly). HAD I known about this & subscribed, I\'d have a seen a lot more Elvis concerts, I\'ll tell ya fer sure. Each issue is stuffed with what was going on (Elvis: That\'s the way it was...). This issue is chock full of concert news & reviews. Condition: VG++ (clean, however there is a coffee drop on far right border, see scan #1 & enlarge). Postage: add on $2.32 within USA or $8 overseas. Scan #1 = covers. Other scans (NOT, I say NOT included with this issue but available on my Store site & I refuse to waste 11 scans because some punter is \"confused\" or from Hawaii!!):
\"Strictly Elvis #51\" (7/72): softbound fan magazine (fanzine) from Rocky Barra (his USA answer to the UK\'s \"Elvis Monthly\"). In this issue: Rocky reviews new LP: \"Madison Sq. Garden\" + other tour dates announced.Condition: VG++ (exceptionally clean). Postage: add on $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scan #1 = covers. \"Strictly Elvis, #49\" (5/72): softbound fan magazine (fanzine) from Rocky Barra (his USA version of the UK\'s \"Elvis Monthly\"). Concert review of Boston (Toli), Rocky reviews new 45 (\"An American Trilogy:) & LP (\"He Touched Me\") & 2 female fans meet Elvis in Vegas, courtesy of his father. Now if you tried to meet Elvis in the 1970\'s during the tours, it helped tremendously if you were a \"cute female\" (?: \"What\'s your favorite type of girl, Elvis?\" to which Elvis replied \"Female, sir.\"). In 1972, the closest I ever got was meeting Vernon in lobby of the Airport Hilton in EL Paso (my best friend from high school & to this day, Buddy Sanders (EL Paso\'s own ETA) got front row seats to a `72 show. I rode a Greyhound from St. Louie for this rare opportunity. Before the show, & we were on the floor since we had front row (oh, by the way: \"Burning Love\" jumpsuit, ah HOOT-WAH!! see my fanzine #2, scan #12). We go to the concession stand for a drink & there stands J.D. Sumner (how could you miss him??!), also getting a liquid beverage. We get to gabbin\' (as Elvis fans are wont to do & J.D. WAS an Elvis fan too), he says we should come out to the Airport Hilton after the show. Sounds good to us, so we go. Pandemonium in the lobby (the band is there, Esposito, etc.) & in walks Vernon Presley. Well we go running over to him & say \"can we meet Elvis, can we meet Elvis??!\" & Vernon says (& I SWEAR this is TRUE): \"I\'m just his father, boys, you\'ve gotta talk to Joe.\" Well we knew what \"Joe\" (Esposito) looked liked thanks to TTWII & \"Elvis On Tour\" movies, so we go to him & he feeds us a line (& I realize now that was his job), to call him the next day at 10 a.m. Well, you know the rest: turns out they were already aboard the Lisa Marie, heading for Dallas because Elvis had a MATINEE show that day! Can you believe he was doing 2 shows a day on many of those tours??! & that, kiddies, is as close as I ever got. Well, enuff cryin\', on with the show: Condition: VG++ (exceptionally clean). Postage: add on $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scan #1 = covers. Other scans (NOT, I say NOT included with this issue but available on my Store site & I refuse to waste 11 scans because some punter is \"Confused\" or from Hawaii!!):

Condition: VG++ (exceptionally clean except for name written in ink in top right corner of cover, see scan #1 & enlarge). Postage: add on $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scans: #1: covers, #2: 2-page center (nice still from \"Flaming Star\"). Other scans (NOT, I say NOT included with this issue but available on my Store site & I refuse to waste 10 scans because some punter is \"confused\" or from Hawaii!!):

\"Strictly Elvis #4\" (8/68): softbound fan magazine (fanzine). Condition: basically VG++ (minor wear to bottom border on front & slight soiling to right on back along spine, see scan #1 & enlarge). Postage: add on $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scan #1 = covers. \"Strictly Elvis #2\" (6/68): softbound fan magazine (fanzine). Rocky picked a good time in Elvis\' life & career to start up SE: Lisa Marie had been born earlier that year (see cover), he was starting to once again pay attention to making good singles (the run started with \"Big Boss Man\", then U.S. Male (reviewed in #1) + GUITAR MAN was just around the corner & this was one year before the filming of the ultimate comeback, the \'68 NBC TV Special. This issue has part 2 of the George Young interview & Judy Palmer\'s Memphis adventures (she saw him 41 times & they talked 9 times during her stay in Memphis). The letters page also in begins this issue. Condition: basically VG++ (front is clean but some soiling in borders on back, mostly on left side, see scan #1 & enlarge). Postage: add on $3 within USA or $10 overseas. Scan #1 = covers. Other scans (NOT, I say NOT included with this issue but available on my Store site & I refuse to waste 11 scans because some punter is \"confused\" or from Hawaii!!):
Elvis Presley: \"Strictly Elvis, #1\" softbound fan magazine (fanzine) & USA\'s answer to the UK\'s \"Elvis Monthly\". In May of 1968, Rocky Berra started up his fanzine & would go on to publish 83 more issues on a regular basis. His was & IS the standard by which every other American Elvis tribute has been held to. I was lucky enough to go to his house in the 1970\'s & he treated me kindly & we have kept in touch (on & off) ever since. This debut issue has 2 introductions + an interesting interview with an Army buddy of Elvis, George Young & every subsequent issue would also cover whatever RCA music was being released: \"U.S. Male\" is reviewed this issue.
