This is just a magnificent antique jewel! The design and craftsmanship on this antique Victorian ring are absolutely of the highest quality. The ring features the most stunning large faceted amethyst of truly the most wonderful color. The color is a royal amethyst color and the stone emits an extraordinary amount of light. This is a regal wonderful gem!!!!

The large amethyst is surrounded by 32 rose cut diamonds. What makes this so magical is the setting of the diamonds. They are set in collets. These are most likely silver atop the 14K gold to set off the diamonds as was the style of the period. The collets continue on down the setting of the ring to create a columnar type of setting. These columns are graduated in size with the longest ones being on the sides and the shorter ones on the end to create a ring that sits comfortably and beautifully on the finger!! A wonderful rare unusual design!!!.

The stunning purple of the amethyst offset by the gorgeous color and workmanship of the rose cut diamonds and the gold columns creates a magical perfect antique ring. I believe that this ring is Victorian, dating to c1860. This piece is so very special for anyone who loves unique and wonderful antique jewelry! This is a rare find.

The ring is in excellent condition. The amethyst is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The diamonds are all in excellent period condition and all appear to be original to the ring! The ring is hallmarked on the back 585 for 14K gold. The amethyst is 17 mm by 12 mm. The top of the ring is 24 mm from north to south and 17 mm from east to west. It is currently a size 9 1/2 US (T UK, 21 France, Japan) and can be easily resized. The ring weighs 8.0 grams.
