English 18th Century Woolwork Panel Jacobean Flowers Roses Circa 1750 RARE:
$1900.00
An English embroidery panel
Dating from 18th century circa 1750
Decorated in a Jacobean Crewel design depicting English country flowers and tendrils embroidered in coloured wools and silks on a linen twill .
Now laid down onto an antique coarse linen backing.
Condition reflecting over two hundred and fifty years of age. Losses to ground silk, some reworking, repairs and general professional conservation. Actual needlework flowers etc in very good antique condition
As you can see this extremely rare English textile still displays beautifully. I would mount into a simple frame and hang on a wall either vertically or horizontally .
Possibly once part of a bed hanging in a grand house .
SIZE: 81 inches long x 17 inches wide. (206cm x 43cm)
An antique textile makes a sumptuous addition and a dramatic centrepiece to any room. The texture brings a depth to a room that a flat canvas (painting) rarely achieves.
