This is a hand hammered pewter charger in good + original condition. It is hand fashioned in the arts & crafts manner. This was a labor intensive piece to produce with all the hand stipple hammering and repousee decoration. In the center you will see a butterfly with sunflowers & foliage, etc. The rim is decorated with a repeating sunflower design. The charger itself is shaped in the form of an octagon and measures 14 ¾” across. It has had no repairs. We believe it dates to the 1st quarter of the 20th century. We are inclined to believe that it is English or American in origin. The charger was photographed in the shade and is not quite as dark as indicated in the photos and a bit more mellow in appearance. The overall tone is even and not shadowed. This was a difficult item to photograph, consequently, the photographs really do not do justice to this very handsome charger.
