English Regency Salt Glaze White Stoneware Lidded Syrup Pitcher Wedgwood(?):
$48.00

Offered is an English Regency period salt glaze white stoneware lidded pitcher. What makes this unusual is the simple form decorated with a band of neoclassical anthemion motifs in black, and the simple gilt decoration on the body and rope twist handle. I also like how the plated metal lid has a thumb piece with a little porcelain knob that has been hinged, a feature I have never encountered before. There are no maker’s marks, but the basic shape and rope twist handle are booth seen in Wedgwood of this period. There are two tiny impressed marks to the base, the number 12 and a four lobed design, and there is a small illegible red overglaze inscription. It is in excellent condition with some slight wear to the gilt decoration and epected wear to the silvered metal lid, but no damage of any kind. Measures 8” in overall height.
