We are pleased to offer this one of a kind Victorian sterling silver Roman sentry Cellini ewer.

Waldron illustrates an identical Cellini ewer page 345. Wihtout the custom ordered sentry cover.

From George Fox in 1873. Highly regarded for brilliant figural and richly ornamented silver.

Classic slender urn design.

Profusely decorated with raised lion alternating with classical maiden masks in beaded oval frame. Flanked by streaming floral displays set in fluted garden urn. Pairs of charging antelope, grazing goats and pheasant.

Above, shell cap older gentleman and matron masks.

Below, leaf arm bare breasted torso set atop flower draped pedestal.

Cast and embellished caryatid handle. Accented with raised shell, floral panels, tapering column and more.

Grinning jester spout. The ghoulish face set in leaf, floral and vine collar.

Smaller theatre mask on the opposite side.

Finished with the boldly cast Roman sentry cork base cover. Long spear resting shield and armored as real.

Shield with MM (?) cypher.

Hallmarked as shown shoulder and several times to the Roman sentry cover.

This one of a kind Roman sentry cover Cellini ewer is 12 inches tall top handle weighs 33 (standard) ounces.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina. The beautifully carved caryatid handle, mask spout and numerous raised mask and wildlife scenes retain their original crisp, vibrant hand chased detail. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. Gilt to interior neck.
