We are pleased to offer this museum worthy Victorian sterling silver fruit and floral center bowl.
This William Hunter 1877 center bowl is nearly identical to an earlier Samuel Kirk example in our store. 1311 467 58384.
That for Confederate General Hugh Mercer.
In raised oval form.
Brilliant fruit and floral sprays. Flowers in an array of form. Ripened melon, apple pear and pineapple. Lush satin background.
Boldly cast twin floral and vine handles.
The interior with engraved family crest. Three roses crowning pine tree in suspended oval medallion. Amidst unique floating pinwheel, almost snowflake designs.
Atop equally well cast acanthus cap curled vine scroll feet.
Victorian fruit and floral center piece is 14 inches across handles 8 across weighs 36 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
Excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The floral and fruit work retains its original crisp, hand chased detail. Stands firm on table. Wear to interior gilt.
