We are pleased to offer this rare George II sliding door tea caddy.

This design first seen c1725. Then again in the 1740s (See Waldron).

The floral chasing is original to the piece and nearly identical to that found on a c1740 caddy illustrated in Waldron page 306 plate 993.

From Samuel Taylor, 1747.

Known for well crafted caddies and sugar bowls and almost no other forms (Grimwade 678).

Slender oval, in-step shoulder.

Beautiful period chased leaf and floral framed medallion, and twin streams. The finish detail of the highest standard.

Well fit leaf cap cover. The sliding filler door at base hallmarked.

This important George II caddy is 5 inches and weighs 11 (standard) ounces.

Hallmarked as shown.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Cover well fit. The sliding filler door works well. The chased floral are original to the caddy, that is, done at the time of its crafting and in fine state. Stands perfectly even on table.
