This is a really nice antique chess table with chairs and cushions.

Gothic / Renaissance style.

I think the wood is walnut.Savonarola chairs ,hand carved backs and lions heads on the arm rests.The backs of the chairsslide off and the marble chess board sits neatly on the top of the table stand.

The seat of the chairs is made of narrowly fitted wooden slats. This type of folding chair originated in Medieval Italy.

These type of chairs are rare and expensive as a single piece.

6 seperate pieces plus 2 blue seat cushions with tassles.

This setting belonged to grandparents in Europe. Possibly Italian or German.No makers mark.

No chess pieces.

Some deterioration to the shields that are transfered / painted on the 4 corners of the board. Please see photos.

A great piece for a study or library.
