This sale is for the one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn, original comic artwork by Bud Blake for his Tiger daily of August 12, 1971. This beautiful daily has everything you would want in a Tiger strip--a sweet, but funny gag, main character Tiger and his dog Stripe in all panels, and Blake\'s typical loose and easy, but perfectly executed artwork. The entire art board measures 15 9/16\" w x 4 7/8\" h and the image area inside the borders is 14 3/4\" x 4 5/16\". The medium is pen and india ink on single-ply art board. For being 44 years old, the artwork is in beautiful near mint overall condition. Theart board is white. The syndicate\'s copyright sticker is still firmly attached. The ink is still rich and deep. The corners arestill sharp. The art board was cut slightly unevenly by the artist. There is an editor\'s blue pencilled correction to the final balloon. There are a couple of tiny white ink marks to cleanup the art in several very small spots. There is a minor fold line through the center of the art board, where the artistfolded the strip in half for shipment. This fold was common practice for Blake and is present in all of his Tiger daily strips that I have ever seen. Judge the great condition of the artwork for yourself--the pictures above are high resolution scans of the artwork. I am a serious comic art collector who is \"thinning the herd,\" as my collection has grown too large.
