EXSELLENT Old Very rare, rare Slavonic Bible of 1820 issued by the Russian Bible Society in perfect condition - Bibliographical rarity! I\'m selling an old very rare Slavonic Bible of 1820, issued by the Russian Bible Society in perfect condition. It was printed in St. Petersburg during the reign of Emperor Alexander Pavlovich /1801-1825/. This Slavonic Bible is the fourth edition and is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the peaceful and prosperous reign of Emperor Alexander Pavlovich. The Bible is in excellent condition with no damaged or missing pages. The book is with hard cover and is 100% original and authentic. The book is printed on thick paper typical of all Russian books from 18-19 century. Old Russian religious books the year of issue usually notes with letters: αωκ which corresponds to 1820. Paper it is printed Bible has horizontal lines through about 30 mm / 1.2 inches and watermarks: 1819 № 3 and have them every 3-4 pages of the book. I guess that the Bible had an older leather bound which is damaged. I think the new cover of the Bible was made in Bulgaria in the late 19th century. The Bible was printed with a beautiful black font in two columns. The book format is 270x225x80mm/ 10.6x8.9x3.1 inches, with a total of 1204 pages and weighs 2930 grams. Perfectly preserved and very rare Slavonic Bible with high artistic and religious value suitable for true connoisseurs and antiquarians. Bibliographical rarity!!!!!!!

Когда в начале 19 век (1804), по инициативе, исходящей из Англии, во всем мире стали основываться так называемый Библейские общества с целью издания и распространения Библии на разных языках, без всяких на нее толкований, примечаний и рассуждений, идея эта проникла и в Россию, где в 1813 г. было основано «Российское библейское общество». Первым делом его было напечатание славянской Библии, которая и вышла в 1816 г., как первое издание Российского библейского общества и как 23-е со времени первоначального напечатания славянской Библии. За 10 лет Обществом было осуществлено 15 изданий полной славянской Библии. Но так как эта Библия все же была на церковно-славянском языке, сильно разнившемся от того языка, на котором говорил народ в начале 19 века, то скоро явилась необходимость издать Библию в более современном переводе.
