This is an Ancient Roman Silver Denarius Military Coin.

The elephant \"denari\" were the first coins minted under Julius Caesar and likely struck to pay his army.

The obverse is the elephant tramping on a horned serpent. Word CAESAR under elephant.

The reverse are emblems ofthe Romanhigh priest: simpulium, (water sprinkler), secures, (single bladed axe) and spoex (spiked cap).

Coin is great shape for it\'s age - well centered on both sides.

Sorry for the poor quality regarding the posted pictures. Hard for my camera to pick up all the details.

The coin has been in my family for over 70 years.

Would make a great addition to anyone\'s coin collection.
