Museum Quality Japanese Cloisonné Covered Box of Exceptionally FineTakara Mono

or Precious Things Design!!

I am pleased to offer for sale this one of a kind Takara Mono design Cloisonne Box possibly from late 19th to very early 20th century Meiji period. It is the most quintessential Precious Things design box that I have ever seen. Even more beautiful than the Incense Burner Takara Mono from the Gerber Collection.

The cover topdesign is a precious multi colored dragon with lots ofvery small cloison scales. The rest of the box is designed with small constricted circle wires and the jampacked Takara Mono symbols in vivid color.

Simply Amazing!!

The Takara Mono or Precious Things are group of Japanese symbols emblematic of or health, wealth, harmony, wisdom, beauty, purity, and protection. The following are some of the motif in this box:

- Sacred Ball or Jewel, represents everlasting soul, Makimono or Handscroll was an early form of books and symbolized wisdom, Hagoromo is a robe made of feathers worn by the Buddhist angels signifies eternal youth, Choji or Clove for purifier or perfume meaning freshness or sweetness, Kanebukuro is a purse of money or wealth, Tsuchi is the hammer of Daikoku is the god of riches producing wealth that mere possession brings fortune without labor. Also, the Kakure-gasa or concealing umbrella is a magical symbol of invinsibility, and many more.

Size: approx. 4.75 inches x 2.25\" x 4\"

Condition: Very Good no dent, crack or damage with the exception of normal wear &minor loss of gilt due to age, usage and cleaning specially along the edges. There is a bit of wear along the edge on top cover near the dragon (please see photo #12) though very tight and stable.

Maker: Unsigned piece of the highest quality.

Note that only 5% of antique cloisonne are normally signed by the maker since they are made for domestic collectors and not for export. This can be attributed to top cloisonne maker in thecaliber of Honda or Namikawa.

A similarly Design Incense Burner depicting the Takara Mono is at the Gerber Collection as shown in page 173 Cloisonné Extraordinaire book by Alexander & Gerber 1977.

Please offer with confidence!!

I have 100% positive response from since 2001.

Please feel free to ask any questions or request for more photos.
