Exceptional Meiji Period c.1900 Japanese Sumida Gawa Lidded Water Jar - Mizu Sashi

Brand/Provenance: Sumida Gawa, Japan.

Age: Meiji Period (1868 - 1912).

Size: The piece measures 17.5cm at widest point, and 13cm high

Artist/signature: The piece is unsigned, but overall is in the manner of Ryosai

Condition: The vase is in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

Comments: A superb Mizu Sashi - Water jug, by the famous Sumida Gawa porcelain manufacturer. The piece has been very well looked after, considering its 100+ year age. The jug features the typical Sumida brown earthenware pottery, which is then matched with the exceptional white and mottled brown overglaze that isquintessential Sumida pottery.
